HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Gloria Zelaya, shown at right, booked a role in The Record. Created by 600 Highwaymen (led by Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone), the performance piece is being presented as part of the Under the Radar Festival at the Public Theater in Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood. She booked the role through an HOLA casting referral. For more information about the production, click here.

Gilbert Cruz
will be performing in a new Deborah Zoe Laufer play Informed Consent at GeVa Theater (in Rochester, New York) and the Cleveland Playhouse (in Cleveland, Ohio). The production will be directed by Sean Daniels and run between February and May 2014.

Juan Carlos Pinedo just wrapped up filming the film Grace Period (directed by Maria Della Croce).

Jeannie Sol and Manuel Morán were highlighted in Impacto Latin News for the roles in the musical revue Rafael Hernández... Romance. Created and directed by Morán and featuring the songs of Puerto Rico's most famous composer, it is produced by and at Teatro SEA (located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center, home to HOLA, in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood). To read the article (which is in Spanish), click on the photo at left. Sol and Morán can be seen, along with fellow cast members Ana Campos, Iván Alexander Bautista, Ángel Feliciano and Laura Kalop (and a photo of Hernández himself), clearly marked in the article.

Mike Smith Rivera will be performing alongside Kelly Anne Burns and others in a workshop production of Holy Crab! Written by Zhu Yi, the play is directed by Ana Margineanu and produced by
Youngblood/EST for their Unfiltered 2013 festival. The performances will take place at Ensemble Studio Theatre (located in the Hell's Kitchen/Clinton neighborhood of Manhattan) in December. For more information, click here or here.
