HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Fabián Zartashown at right, was in the cast of a musical adaptation of the Homerian epic The Odyssey. With book, music, and lyrics by Todd Almond, it is directed by Lear deBessonet and was performed in September at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park as part of the Public Theater's Public Works program. The production also starred Karen Olivo, Brandon Victor Dixon, Todd Almond, Lucas Caleb Rooney and Patrick Michael Valley

Billy Martin Mejía is co-starring in the webseries "El Alto" (written by Francis Mateo and directed by Renato Brea). The webseries is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, September 24, 2015. For more information, click here.

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), shown at right, was one of the hosts (as well as the featured performer) at the Bronx Fashion Week event, which took place in September at the new Bay Plaza Mall in the Baychester area of the Bronx. Eric Robledo, shown at left, is currently acting in the GALA Hispanic Theatre production of Federico García Lorca's Yerma (Barren). Adapted by Fernando J. López and directed by José Luis Arellano García, it runs through October and is being presented at GALA's eponymous theater located in Washington, District of Columbia. A.B. Lugo (also see below) and Eduardo Leáñez are acting in the film The Last Scene. Based on the play by Richard Thomas Henle, it is adapted by Félix Hiciano (who also co-stars) and will be directed by Amanda Hiciano. It starts shooting in September in New York City.

José A. Esquea is directing the film Saint Nicholas. Written by A.R. García, the film is based on his award-winning solo show I Love Them All and stars Monte Bezell, Francesca Van Horne, Carolina Ravassa, Abraham Makany, García, Andrés Chulisi Rodríguez, A.B. Lugo (also see above) and Manny Alfaro. A trailer for the movie can be seen below.
