HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Julissa Román, shown at right, is co-starring in Daughter of God. Written and directed by Gee Malik Linton, the film stars Keanu Reeves, Ana de Armas, Mira Sorvino, and Christopher McDonald. The film also stars Gilbert Cruz, 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Daniel Ojeda, and Anthony Ruiz.

Eduardo Leáñez and Patrick E. Horrigan the latest incarnation of their Actors With Accents performance showcase. The event will take place on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Teatro Círculo in Manhattan's East Village. Among the performers will be Caridad del Valle. For more information, click here or here.

Vanessa Verduga, star-writer-director-producer of the webseries Justice Woman, has announced that the webseries is an official selection of the Rio Web Fest, which will take place in November in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For more information, click here or here.

Vladimir Ríos, shown in character, at right, along with photographer Lester Blum, created The Warrior of Hope, a photo series in which Ríos plays the titular character (which is the embodiment of hope). The photo series was selected as an "Editor's Pick" in Time Out New York magazine. The Warrior of Hope is currently being exhibited (in September and October) at the Staten Island LGBT Community Center in the Tompkinsville neighborhood of Staten Island. Francisco Fuertes is co-starring in and co-produced the short film Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora. (You. Me. Bathroom. Sex. Now.) Written and directed by Francisco Lupini Basagoiti, the film has been hitting the film festival circuit hard, winning several awards along the way. Its next stop will be in August at the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, in Tampa, Florida. For more information, click herehere or here.
