HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Víctor Cruz, shown at rightwrote, directed, co-produced and stars in the feature film The Stockroom, which is now hitting the film festival circuit. The feature film, also starring April Lee Hernández and Liza Colón-Zayas and co-produced by Elaine Del Valle, is an official selection of the Urbanworld Film Festival (in New York City), the L.A. Indie Film Festival (in Los Angeles, California), and the Golden Door International Film Festival (in Jersey City, New Jersey), all in September. For more information on the film, click here.

Maite Uzal will be acting in The (New) Trial. Based on the final play by Peter Weiss, it is adapted and directed by Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li and will be presented in September as part of the Dream Up Festival at the Joyce and Seward Johnson Theater at Theater for the New City, located in Manhattan's East Village. Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) is presenting the En Un Acto Theater & Film Festival. It will feature one-act plays,  evenings of film shorts, a performance piece and two panels. Participating in the festival (as of press time) will be María Cotto, Caridad del Valle, Manolo García Oliva, A.B. Lugo, Paul Montoya, Carlos Navedo and 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera, shown at left. The festival will feature works from Alphabeta Productions, Anacaona Theater, CCN-USA, E3Outlaws Productions, Group of the Arts, Grupo Yaxkin, La Caja de los Prejuicios, Producciones Vuelvo al Sur, Teatro del Sol, TEBA and Teatro Tureiro and will take place in November at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Raúl Rivera is directing the TEBA production of José Adolfo Pichardo's play La otra cara de Nadís. It will be presented in September as part of the IX Festival Internacional de Teatro de la Casa Cultural Navarrete at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
