HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

2015 HOLA Awards recipient Natalia Ivana Escobar, shown at rightis in the cast of the New York company of Point Break LIVE! Written, produced and directed by Jaime Keeling, the production will have a performance in August at The Bell House (located in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood). The play is an interactive theater piece which spoofs the Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze movie vehicle, Point Break (written by W. Peter Iliff from a story by Iliff and Rick King, and directed by Academy Award winner Kathryn Bigelow), and selects a member of the audience to portray Reeves's character, Johnny Utah, and given the lines on stage during the show. Vivienne Jurado, shown at left, is the host and associate producer of "The Feng Shui Show" featuring award-winning feng shui expert Aileen Soo. The project is directed by award-winning director and producer Rodolfo Graziano and is currently a pilot with an international distribution deal.

Vladimir Ríos, and his collaboration with photographer Lester Blum, titled Warrior of Hope, will have a new exhibition running in September and October at the Staten Island LGBT Community Center, located in the Tompkinsville neighborhood of Staten Island. For more information, click here.

Raúl Rivera, shown at right, was highlighted in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written by 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Héctor Luis Rivera), as a result of him starring the TEBA/Fragal co-production of José Vicente's play El consultorio del Dr. Locardio. The production will be directed by Franco Galecio and is scheduled for a September run at the Broadway Blackbox Theater, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Elaine Del Valle is a co-producer the popular interactive webseries "Gran'pa Knows Best". She negotiated an acquisition deal with HBO Latino for the series (in a first of its kind deal for interstitial programming). Created, co-produced, directed, shot and edited by William D. Caballero and based on his award-winning short film How You Doin', Boy? Voicemails From Gran'pa, its star is Caballero's own grandfather Víctor Muriel (who voices the title character, itself a 3D model of Muriel).
