HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Edna Lee Figueroa, María Peyramaure, and Juan Carlos Díaz, shown at right, from left to right, were featured in the ArteNY blog, where their participation as actors in the play Amorcito de mala muerte was highlighted. Written by Carlos Alberto Valencia (who also stars) and directed by Estefanía Fadul, the play will be presented in May as part of the Hispanic Federation FUERZAfest, which will take place at the Julia de Burgos Performance and Arts Center in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. The play will be on a double bill with Leonardo González's play La Leva (directed by Josean Ortiz). To read the blog, which is bilingual (English/Spanish), click here.

Judy Torres performed her hit songs on a bill with Naughty By Nature and Tito Nieves in May to celebrate Bronx Week (and to celebrate the latest inductions in the Bronx Walk of Fame). The concert took place al fresco at Bainbridge Avenue and Mosholu Parkway in the Bainbridge section of the Bronx on Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2016.

Esteban Rodríguez Alverio, shown at left, is co-starring in the play H.O.M.E. Written by Angélica Rivera and Marvin Tran, and directed by Daniel Echevarria, the play will run in August and September at the New Ohio Theatre, located in Manhattan's West Village. For more information, click here.

The Jennica Carmona award-winning feature film Millie and the Lords will be available for streaming on HBO and HBO Latino platforms starting in November 2016.
The film stars Jessica Carmona; Cedric Leiba, Jr.
Alfredo Romeo Suárez; Gabriel Castillo; Carolina Ravassa; Alfredo Huereca; Alex Castillo; Modesto Lacén; Plinio Villablanca; and Mateo Gómez. For more information, click here.

The short film The Weight of Flight (written by Raquel Almazán, based on a story by Elizabeth Mackintosh, who also is directing and producing) is currently in production. The story is based on real-life experiences of actress Pooya Mohseni, who also stars. Production will wrap by the end of the month.
