HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Alma Martínez, shown at right, has been quite busy as of late. She wrapped up filming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (directed by Zack Snyder) and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa. In addition, two films in which she starred have been hitting the film festival circuit. The first, the feature film Strike One (directed by David Llaugar-Meisleman) will screen at both the Viva! Latino Film Festival (in New  York) in February 2015, but also the Cannes Film Festival (in Cannes, France) in May 2015. For more information, click hereThe second, the short film Selling Rosario (directed by Michael Winokur and Iana Simeonov) won the Jury and Audience awards at the Napa Valley Film Festival in Napa, California In addition, the short film was an official selection of this year's Santa Barbara Film Festival in Santa Barbara, California. On stage, she acted in a workshop of Luis Alfaro, Mojada: A Los Angeles Medea (directed by Jessica Kubzansky) at the Boston Court Performing Arts Center in Pasadena, California. She can also be seen playing Irma in the film Cake (directed by Daniel Barnz), starring Jennifer Aniston. For more information on all things Alma, click here.

Carla Caraballo booked a role in the television series "All-American Makers" (Science).

Alberto Bonilla, shown at leftwon a Queens Kudos Award  (presented by the TimesLedgerfor Outstanding Direction for his work helming William Shakespeare's Richard III (which took place at The Secret Theatre, located in the Long Island City area of Queens). For more information, click here.

Sebastian Stimman will be performing in the LINKED dancetheatre production of Born and Bred. Conceived and choreographed by Kendra Slack, it will be presented in March at the Muriel Schulman Theater at Triskelion Arts, located in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood.
