HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Miriam Colón-Valle, shown at right, has a recurring role playing Mrs. Salamanca (Tuco's grandmother, or abuelita) in "Better Call Saul" (AMC), the new spinoff/prequel/sequel to the hit, critically acclaimed (and recently completed) series to AMC's "Breaking Bad".

Edna Lee Figueroa will be performing in the solo show Láyel. Written by Joselo Arroyo and directed by Figueroa and Karina Casiano, the production will be presented in March and April by and at Teatro Círculo in their namesake space, located in Manhattan's East Village. Gilbert Cruz booked a principal role in a WebMD industrial.

Vladimir Ríos, shown in character, at left, is portraying The Warrior of Hope in a photo series by Lester Blum. The Warrior of Hope is personifying the concept of "hope" for those who are ill, downtrodden, and oppressed against inequality, injustice, and disease. The photo series will be presented at a gallery show at the Project Space of the Leslie Lohman Museum and Gallery in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood. For more information, click here and here.

Paul Mauriello and Tom Schubert play "The Jock" and "The Virgin", respectively, in the upcoming improvisational comedy webseries "Mix-Matched". Conceived by Lina Sarrello, the webseries also stars Sarrello, Lailah Lancing, Marie Pohl, and Andrés Chulisi Rodríguez, and deals with the world of online dating. A teaser trailer for the webseries can be seen below.
