HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Blanca Camacho, shown at right, did voiceovers for the Lasse Hallström feature film A Dog's Purpose (starring Dennis Quaid and Peggy Lipton) and the Taylor Hackford film The Comedian (starring Robert De Niro and Leslie Mann), both currently in theaters, as well as for episodes of ABC's "Quantico", CBS's "Blue Bloods", and HBO's "Divorce". She also completed a stint as teaching artist at the Princeton University Lewis Center for a workshop presentation of the Edwin Rosales play Tierra Fuerte (directed by Suzanne Agins).

Raúl Rivera has been busy on the acting and directing/producing fronts. As an actor, he will star in the Giovanni Cruz Durán play El diablo ya no vive aquí. Directed by José Bonilla, the play will also star Claribel Ortiz and be presented in April by Casa de la Cultura Navarrete USA (CCN-USA). For more information, click here. As a director/producer, he is presenting Sueños rotos. Two monologues (Trash and En este apartmento hay fuego todos los días, both written by Pedro Monge Rafuls), the production stars Edú and Ana Montero and will be presented in April by Coquí Theater. Both productions will take place at El Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU (CoDoCul), located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.

Rafael Beato, shown at left, can be seen in the Cándido Tirado and Vico C musical La canción. Directed by Edward Torres, the play is currently running at Repertorio Español, located in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. [Beato just won the 2017 NY Latin ACE Award for Best Male Actor in a Musical for his role in this production.] For more information, click here. In addition, he will temporarily leave the cast of that show to act in the GALA Hispanic Theatre production of the Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes musical In The Heights, where he will play Sonny. That production will be the U.S. premiere of the Spanish-language version of the musical. It will be directed and choreographed by Luis Salgado and will run in April and May at GALA's eponymous theater in the North West area of Washington, District of Columbia. Henry Caicedo guest-starred in an episode of "Gotham" (Fox).
