HOLA Member Bochinche


Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Mariana Vily will be appearing in the M.A.D. Playhouse production of the play Sakharam Binder (written by Vijay Tendulkar and directed by Miriam Ibrahim). Scheduled for a June and July run, it will take place at the NC Theater, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. For more information, click here.

Matt Antar and Andrea García star in Papi/Flaco. Written and directed by Eddie Antar, it is being presented in June at the Thespis Theater Festival by the Cabrini Repertory Theater, located in Manhattan’s Inwood neighborhood. For more information, click here.

Laura Gómez ’s short film To Kill A Roach (which she wrote, produced and directed and in which she stars), will be screened in June at the Dominican Film Festival of New York (DFFNY). The movie starred Gómez, Iván Camilo, Jenniffer Díaz, Gabriela García, Rosie Berrido, Gabriel Gutiérrez and Puy Navarro in the cast. (Edwin Pagán handled cinematography duties.) Also screening at the Dominican Film Festival of New York (DFFNY) is the feature film Refuge from the Storm (directed by Elías Acosta), which stars Michael Madsen, Jane Santos and Angie Jerez. For more information, click here

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja) will be performing her original poetry and music at the Hudson River Café on Thursday, June 27, 2013 for their weekly Heaven on the Hudson event. For more information, click here.

Abraham Makany , shown at left, is set to act in the Karen Malpede play Another Life. Directed by Malpede and starring George Bartenieff, the production is set for a run in July as part of the RADA Festival at the John Gielgud Theatre in London, England, UK. For more information, click here.

Nanda Abella
booked the role of Gertrude in an upcoming film adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet (adapted for the screen by Kira Madallo Sesay and directed by Javor Gardev).

Eduardo Leáñez will be performing the solo show You Are Confused! (written by Leáñez and Patrick E. Horrigan and directed by Rosalie Purvis) on Friday, July 19, 2013 as part of the 2013 Fresh Fruit Festival. The show will take place at The Wild Project, located in Manhattan’s Loísaida neighborhood.
