Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Víctor Cruz, shown at right, can be seen guest-starring in episodes of "The Good Fight" (CBS) and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" (Netflix) this season.
Lucio Fernández, shown at left, and the music group Máxima Alerta, of which he is a member, will perform on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Havana on the Hudson concert at the Hoboken Amphitheatre in Hoboken, New Jersey.
The Alberto Bonilla-helmed production of William Shakespeare's King Lear at The Secret Theatre (in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens and which co-starred A.B. Lugo) picked up two New York Innovative Theatre Award (NYIT) nominations– one for Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role (Zachary Clark) and one for Outstanding Revival of a Play. The Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en los Estados Unidos, which just recently completed its VII Festival de Teatro Hispano del Comisionado (which was dedicated to actor-playwright-director Marco Antonio Rodríguez and which ran from May through July 2017 and which presented 27 productions) at the Teatro Rafael Villalona in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood and just announced their award nominations for the festival in which HOLA members are prominent and are listed below.
• Best Actor: David Ponce*, La orgía (Havanafama); Claudio Weisz*, Cinco hijas feas (Teatro del Aire). [* Also nominated as part of Best Ensemble for their respective productions.]
• Best Actress: Lissette Montolío, Esta noche se improvisa (Laboratorio de Teatro de Fermín Suárez/Teatro Thalía Hispanic Theatre).
• Best Director: Héctor Luis Rivera, Mirandolina (TEBA); Raúl Rivera, La lechuga (Coquí Theater).
• Best Lighting Design: Alfonso Rey, Asesinas anónimas (IShow Productions).
