HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Marco Antonio Rodríguez, shown at right, is the recipient of the Dominican Day Parade New York Rising Star Award. The gala event will take place on Friday, August 11, 2017, with the parade taking place on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in Manhattan. In addition, UrbanTheater Company will produce his award-winning play, Ashes Of Light (the English version of La Luz de un cigarrillo) this autumn at Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago, Illinois.

Blanca Camacho, shown at left, is starring as Camila Rosario in the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera production of the Lin-Manuel Miranda-Quiara Alegría Hudes musical In The Heights. Directed and choreographed by Michael Balderrama, the production takes place at Pittsburgh CLO in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For more information, click here.

Edison Carrera, shown at right, is set to receive an Orgullo Ecuatoriano Award from the Ecuadorian-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (EACCNJ). In addition, he has been designated as Actor of the Year for this year's New Jersey Ecuadorian Parade. The awards ceremony will take place at the EACCNJ annual benefit scheduled to take place on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, New Jersey, with the parade taking place on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in Newark, New Jersey.
