HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

David Zayas, shown at right, is co-starring in the film Tallulah. Written and directed by Sian Heder, the film stars Ellen Page, Allison Janney, Tammy Blanchard, Uzo Aduba, Zachary Quinto, and Felix Solis. The Netflix Pictures film will be released nationwide on Friday, July 29, 2016.

David Ponce is co-starring in the award-winning production of the Nicolás Dorr play Las pericas. After stints in New York and Los Angeles, the Havanafama Theatrical Company production is directed by Juan Roca (also see below), and will be presented in July at Havanafama's recently opened namesake theater, located in Miami, Florida.

Edna Lee Figueroa, shown in character, at left, wearing black and white, is co-starring in the "immersive street theater" production Broken City: Wall Street. Billed as "an intervention conceived by PopUP Theatrics partners [and directors] Ana Margineanu and Tamilla Woodard with collaborator [and playwright] Peca Stefan", this is the third incarnation of this production, following stints in the Manhattan neighborhoods of Lower East Side and Harlem. The production invites nine audience members at a time to navigate the broken trails of stories and follow the characters who populate the famed and fabled neighborhood of Manhattan's Financial District. Performances will run in July and August. For more information, or to get tickets, click here.

Barby Ganesh is co-starring in Bernarda (an adaptation of Federico García Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba). The play, adapted and directed by Juan Roca (also see above), will also star Isaniel Rojas, Julie De Grandy, Alicita Lora, and others, and will run in July and August
at Havanafama's recently opened namesake theater, located in Miami, Florida.
