HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

Alberto Bonilla
and Pun Bandhu just wrapped up filming the film short Praise and Blame (written and directed by Shane Book).

The feature film Elliot Loves (written and directed by G. Terracino, shown at right) wrapped up its domestic film festival run with a bang by winning Best Film at the Indianapolis Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, marking its third award. The film was produced by Terracino and Elizabeth Gardner and co-produced by Juan Cáceres, stars Robin De Jesús, Elaine Del Valle (a 2012 HOLA Award recipient, see also below), Alfredo Narciso (a 2012 HOLA Award recipient), Cedric Leiba, George Ruiz, Dalia Davi, Monte Bezell, Judy Torres, Bobby DeJesús, Denia Brache and Fabio Costaprado in the cast. Abraham Makany
acted in The Standups. Written by Megan Sass, the show was directed by Elana McKelahan and presented in October at The Flea Theater in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood as part of the theater's late night series, entitled #serials@theflea [sic]. For more information, click here.

Danisarte is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and to celebrate, the theater company is presenting Memories/Recuerdos (1992-2012), a celebration of two decades of its work. Dedicated to the loving and inspirational memory of actress Ruth Antonofsky, it is produced by Alicia Kaplan and scheduled to take place on the weekend of December 1-2, 2012 at the Taller Boricua in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. The series of film screenings, concerts and theatrical presentations include the talents of Sara Rivas, Luis Felipe Rodríguez, Ángel Elon, Edison Carrera, Sonia Suárez Schwartz, Patricio Kuhn, Juan Guzmán, Josué Vargas, Edward Azcorra and others. 2012 HOLA Award recipient Elaine Del Valle (see also above) booked a Spanish language national Hunts commercial and a Verizon radio voiceover.

The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!) is about to present its annual holiday production of Los Nutcrackers: A Christmas Carajo. Written by Charles Rice-González, directed by Mark Finley and choreographed by Richard Rivera, the cast features Johnathan Cedano, Robert Maisonett, Gabriel Morales, Yosvany Reyes, Ray Quiñones and Appolonia Cruz, and will take place in November and December at BAAD!'s eponymous space located in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx.
