HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

Loren Escandón (shown at left with Carlos A. González) and Ángela Cove (who appeared in an ad with Jorge Humberto Hoyos), booked a print campaign for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Campaign. The ads hit the city's transit system and was made to promote safer sex awareness to Latinas. An article (in Spanish) in New York, El Diario/La Prensa about the campaign, whose slogan translates to "My body. My risk. My rules," can be read here. For more information, click here. In addition, Escandón booked a Metroplus commercial (directed by Alberto Ferreras).

Gilbert Cruz booked a commercial for New York State Lottery

Francis Mateo performed his poetry at Palabras, Ritmo y Arte. The event, a celebration of Latino poetry, music and art, was produced by Voces, the Latino Heritage Network of The New York Times and took place in October at headquarters of The New York Times, located near Manhattan's Times Square.

The film Under My Nails (written by Kisha Tikina Burgos, directed by Ari Maniel Cruz) was the subject of an article in the Puerto Rican magazine Caras. The film stars Iván Camilo, Burgos, Maité Bonilla, Rosie Berrido, Marilú Acosta, Dolores Pedro, Enrique Juliá, Miranda Purcell and Antonio Pantojas in the cast.
