HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Víctor Cruz, shown at right, will be the subject of a panel, as part of the Official Latino Short Film Festival in New York. The panel will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at The Poets Den Theater in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. The panel will be moderated by Louis Perego Moreno (Tío Louie), where Cruz will talk about his life and career as an actor, director, writer, producer, and comedian. (Most recently, Cruz made his feature film debut as a writer and director with his film The Stockroom, co-starring Liza Colón-Zayas. The film is now available for purchase or rental. Marco Antonio Rodríguez donated copies of his award-winning plays La Luz de un cigarrillo and Barceló con hielo, to the City University of New York Dominican Studies Institute (CUNY-DSI) Library, located on the campus of City College of New York, CUNY, in Manhattan's Harlem/Hamilton Heights neighborhood. Vladimir Ríos, in collaboration with photographer Lester Blum, whose photograph of Ríos, titled "Invisible", can be seen at left, have completed their latest documentary photography project. Also titled Invisible, it shines a light on everyone who feels “invisible” in today’s society, whether it be caused by age, handicap or disability, mental illness, disease, weight issues, or lifestyle. The project will be photographed along as being  a documentary along with testimonies that the individual would like to share with the viewers. The project will have its first exhibition at the Pride Center of Staten Island/Staten Island LGBT Community Center, located in the Tompkinsville area of Staten Island, with an opening reception scheduled for Saturday, August 13, 2016. Iliana Guibert is starring in the film Twice Upon A Time. Written by Guibert (who also executive produced) and directed by Paul Borghese, the short film, inspired by true events, is an official selection of the Nyack Film Festival in Nyack, New York and will be screened on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Nyack Village Theatre. For more information, click here.

Lucio Fernández will have his artwork exhibited, along with 40 other artists in the Everyone With Linda art exhibit, which will take place at the Union City Museum at the William V. Musto Cultural Center, located in the West Hoboken area of Union City, New Jersey. The exhibition, curated of Amado Mora, will have its official opening on Friday, August 12, 2016.
