HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Jesús E. Martínez, shown at right, was featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written and edited by Héctor Luis Rivera, also see below) on account of his co-starring role in the Lina Sarrello play Out There/Allá afuera. The play, directed by Michael León, was presented as part of the Broadway Bound Theater Festival in July and August at The 14th Street Y, located in Manhattan's East Village. Larissa Santiago, shown at leftwas featured in the Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written and edited by Héctor Luis Riveraalso see above) as a result of her co-starring role in the play Próxima parada. Written, directed and co-starring Prince Porto, the Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos production was presented in August at the Teatro Rafael Villalona at the Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja) was featured in the Appalachia (Virginia/Kentucky)-based daily newspaper The Coalfield Progress as a result of her starring role in the award-winning musical BETSY! (conceived and developed by Ron Short, Dudley Cocke, Beegie Adair, Rosalba Rolón and Desmar Guevara and directed by Rolón), which was developed by Roadside Theater and Pregones-PRTT. The production will be presented in August at the Appalshop Theater in Whitesburg, Kentucky. To read the article, click here.

Lugo and writer-publisher Jonathan Marcantoni were interviewed by Rachelle Escamilla (also known by her nom de poésie Poetita) for the KKUP 91.5 FM, Cupertino, California-based radio show "Out Of Our Minds" (the longest running poetry radio show in the United States), where he performed some of his poetry and spoke about his recently published book of poetry Spanish Coffee: Black, No Sugar (La Casita Grande).
