Luis Salgado and Maite Uzal, shown above, left to right, in a post-performance discussion and in character, respectively, were featured in a photo flash article from Broadway World where his role as director-choreographer and her role as Abuela Claudia in the upcoming Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC) production of the Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes musical In The Heights were highlighted. The Héctor Luis Sin Censura blog (written and edited by Héctor Luis Rivera) announced the creation of LATA, the Latin Alternative Theater Awards. The awards will be handed out in 19 categories (with six special awards being presented out of competition), with the winners decided by popular vote. Among the HOLA members nominated for the LATA this year are Iván L. Argudo, Edmi De Jesús, Caridad del Valle, Berenice Di Piazza, Edna Lee Figueroa, Pablo García Gámez, Mario Golden, Vivienne Jurado, Billy Martin Mejía, Aileene Pérez, Angie Regina, Mafer Rodríguez, and Kathy Tejada; with A.B. Lugo, Yvette Quintero, Alfonso Rey, and Raúl Rivera garnering two nominations each. The award winners will be announced on Monday, March 27, 2017 at El Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU (CoDoCul), located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
