Report: The Transition Workshop with JULIO AGUSTÍN

On Wednesday, April 27, 2011, HOLA (through its HOLAfábrica program) presented THE TRANSITION WORKSHOP, a workshop on how to take your career as an actor to the next level no matter where you are in your career. The workshop was conducted by veteran film, television and Broadway performer Julio Agustín (shown at right) and took place at Teatro LATEA in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (also home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood.

These were some of the topics covered:
• The Top Ten Transition Strategies
• Making an Impact: Getting Noticed & Being Remembered
• Creating a Compelling Character in Five Easy Steps.

Some of the student feedback is below.

• "Very satisfied."
• "Excellent. I wanted more. [Julio Agustín] is sweet, generous, very 'knowing.'"

• "[The workshop is] very honest. [Agustín] is incredible, open, [a] very excellent communicator."
• "[Agustín] is professional, informative and I would take any workshop he gave."
• "Inspiring."

• "Awesome! Informative! Loved it! I look forward to working with him again!"
• "Great to hear real-time advice from a seasoned actor."
• "It was a wonderful insightful experience worthy of more than was charged. Julio's got a real eye for detailing the obvious and pointing out the dots without necessarily pointing them out. Self discovery is great when you can have it, but Julio provided focus."
