HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Mónica Delgadoshown at right, won the Best Supporting Actress award from the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema Milan 2016 (in Milan, Lombardy, Italy) for her role in the feature film Bx3M (written and directed by Judith Escalona).

David Ponce is co-starring in Se armó el mejunje. The musical comedy show features texts by 2016 HOLA Awards recipient Julie De Grandy and is directed by Juan Roca. The Havanafama Performing Arts production will take place in December at the Havanafama Studio Theater in Miami, Florida.

Due to popular demand, Manolo García Oliva will once again give a discussion titled "El teatro cubano en Nueva York", about Cuban theater in New York on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Broadway Blackbox Theater in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.

2016 HOLA Awards Performer's Choice recipent Elizardi Castro, shown above leftwill be performing in the Chicago premiere El Show. An evening of standup comedy/solo theater, the show is produced by 2016 HOLA Performer's Choice recipient Mike Oquendo (of Mike Oquendo Events), shown above right, and will feature special guests Melanie León and Mike Navarro. The show will take place in January 2017 at the Stahl Family Theatre at Saint Patrick's High School in Chicago, Illinois. For more information, click here.

Anthony Ruiz and Miriam Cruz acted in a commercial for Ikea (they can be seen throughout, most prominently talking with the male protagonist while flanking him on the sofa), which can be seen below.
