Report on Special HOLAfábrica Seminar: Casting Seminar with Amy Gossels of Amy Gossels Casting

Amy Gossels of Amy Gossels Casting presented a special HOLAfábrica seminar titled "Insights from Casting Director Amy Gossels to enhance your career" on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Teatro SEA, located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA).

Before a crowd of HOLA members, Ms. Gossels explained the many changes in the industry that have taken place over the past few years, and how understanding these changes is key to an actor’s success in the current landscape. Among other things, Ms. Gossels highlighted many of the recent technological advances that have made the casting process, in many cases (specifically commercials and some episodic television) much faster than ever.

She also emphasized that the job of the actor is to be proactive in his/her career and how an actor can be most effective when it comes to increasing their work opportunities. She finished with the encouraging words that "Work begets work” and gave HOLA members the tools and insight to help make that happen.

Ms. Gossels also expressed the importance of updating your photos and resume and actively submitting on respected casting sites such as Actors' Access (from Breakdown Services) and Casting Networks.

Those in attendance were impressed by the wealth of knowledge Ms. Gossels shared. Her insights were incredibly helpful and very enlightening and those who attended expressed gratitude that an industry insider shared her time and knowledge and gave such specific and productive advice to help the HOLA community.

Special thanks to Teatro SEA, Chris Cruz and Jacqueline Pereda for their help in making this seminar a success.
