HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members are in boldface.

The film Changing Diego won Best Latino Feature Film at the NYC Downtown Feature Film Festival, located at the Duo Multicultural Arts Center (DMAC) in Manhattan's East Village. The film was written by Abraham Aponte and directed by Will Fonseca, the film stars Anthony Cruz, Yomaris Maldonado, Sean Manning, Will Fonseca, Juan Sarmiento, Michael Díaz, Rachel Strauss, Edison Carrera, Gloria Zelaya, María Teresa Silva, Yanelba Ferreira, Glenys Javier, Vanessa Benítez, Ura Yoana Sánchez, Lorena Jorge, Elliott Mayer, Jenn Pinto and Noriko Sato.

Departure, the short film written and directed by Mauricio Alexander (and starring Alexander, Brian Luna and Tracy Pérez) will be screened at the Nuyorican Poets' Café in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood on Thursday, March 8, 2012. For more information, click here.

Suni Reyes can be seen in the improv show 1-800-LONDON, produced by and performed at The People's Improv Theater (The PIT), located in Manhattan's Rose Hill neighborhood. For more information, click here.

Candela, Fuerza y Pasión, the musical that Luis Salgado is directing and choreographing, will return to the stage. The show, which includes Afro-Peruvian folkloric dance, while have a March run at the El Centro Cultural Rimac in Lima, Peru.

Marisol Carrere e-mailed us to that I Am Julia, the film she co-produced (with Gloria Zelaya), co-starred in and wrote, will be screening at the Jackson Heights Cinema as part of the Queens World Film Festival on Saturday, March 3, 2012. The film is directed by David Capurso and stars Leidi Salazar, Carolina Ravassa, Carrere, Doua Moua, Tationna Bosier, Brenda Gómez, Zahaira Curiel and Tamara Turner. For more information, click here. In addition, Mmes Carrere and Zelaya and Mr. Capurso will be on the radio program "La Voz" (KDM 1380 AM in New York) this coming Sunday with radio host Carlos G. Berducido talking about the film project.
