Liza Colón-Zayas, shown at right, will be acting in Stand By Me: Reliable Plays. The series of short plays are written by children and performed by adults. It will be produced in April by the 52nd Street Project, an organization that brings inner-city children together with professional theater artists. Other actors performing alongside her include Billy Crudup, Peter Dinklage and Lili Taylor. The performances will take place at Five Angels Theater in the Hell’s Kitchen area of Manhattan. Vanessa Verduga, shown at left, was highlighted and hailed as an “emerging talent” in an article by A.C. Lee in The New York Times for “Justice Woman”, the webseries she created, wrote and in which she stars as the titular character. For more information, click here.

Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), along with with Bonafide Rojas, Mariposa and MelleSol will be the featured performers of the sixth anniversary of the ¡Capicú! Ziad Tayeh is starring in the horror-comedy webseries “A Burger To Die For” (written by Cyril Mahe, Tanzeel Kanzani and Ron Denson and directed by Mahe).

Carlos A. González stars in the film A Life in Shadows (directed by Ernie Hiyane). It is scheduled to screen in New York in April before being screen at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. In addition, he will be hosting Comedy Night at Niko's on Friday, April 5, 2013 in White Plains, New York. His special guests will include comedians Peaches Rodríguez, Ray Marshall, Phoebe Robinson and Kenny Ortega.

Teatro Ekklesia is presenting La Pasión. Directed by Ediberto Saldaña, the play stars Héctor Luis Rivera, Ana Montero, Zulema Santos, María Teresa Silva and others and will have three performances in March at churches in Manhattan’s Harlem and El Barrio neighborhood as part of the Lent and Holy Week celebrations. Milteri Tucker was the associate choreographer and performed in the ensemble for the Columbia Stages production of Marie Christine. The musical, written by Michael John LaChiusa and directed by Raymond Zilberberg, had a March run at 3LD, located in Manhattan’s TriBeCa area. For more information, click here.

Mariana Parma performed in Tangos: From Gardel to Piazzolla. The tango performance was led by tango master Rómulo Larrea and performed in March at the Markham Theatre for the Performing Arts in Markham, Ontario, Canada. For more information, click here.

Liam Torres, shown at left, is acting in Mariquitas. Written by Eduardo Machado and directed by Michael Domitrovich, the play is scheduled for an April and May run in Theater for the New City, located in Manhattan's East Village.

Éric-Dominique Pérez, shown below at right, was highlighted in the weekly newspaper El Especial, due to the production of his self-penned self show El Gringuito (directed by A.B. Lugo and assistant directed by Billy Martín Mejía). The production is scheduled to play at HERE Arts Center (located in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood) in March as part of the 11th annual Downtown Urban Theater Festival. Daphne Rubin-Vega booked a guest-starring role on the NBC series “Smash”.

Albania Matos has had a flurry of activity as of late. She just wrapped up shooting the short film Betrayed (written and directed by Michael Simmons) and is currently shooting Goodbye Apathy (written and directed by Osaretin Omorodion).

Gladys K. Nilsen booked a lead role in the short film Memories (written and directed by Luz Ayala).

Teatro SEA is presenting La muela del rey Farfán in March. Written by Serafín Álvarez Quintero and Joaquín Álvarez Quintero (and with a score by Manuel A. Morán and Iván Alexander Bautista), it is directed by Morán, the show stars Jesús E. Martínez, Francisco Fuertes, Shadia Almasri, Indra Palomo, Daisy Payero, Néstor Carrillo, Ana Campos, Johanna Rodríguez, John Chris Williams, Morán and Edward Cardenales. Josean Ortiz, shown at right, was profiled in an article from the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular (popularly known as PRPop, it was created by the Puerto Rican Department of State) where the show he adapted from Manuel Ramos Otero’s short story, La última plena de Luberza, was highlighted and reviewed. The production also starred Amneris Morales, was directed by Ortiz, and finished a run in February at the Corralón de San José in Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico. Terracino, shown at left, was nominated for a 2013 TLA Gaybie Award for Best Director for his award-winning feature film Elliot Loves (starring stars Elaine Del Valle, Robin De Jesús, Cedric Leiba, Monte Bezell, Judy Torres, Denia Brache, Johnathan Cedano, Elena Goode, Alfredo Narciso, George Ruiz, Dalia Davi, Bobby DeJesús and Fabio Costaprado). Ed Trucco and Anthony Ruiz wrapped up shooting Truth Will Out. The short film stars Trucco, Armando Riesco, Mateo Gómez, Laura Gómez, A.B. Lugo, Ruiz and Susanna Guzmán.

Ziad Tayeh just booked a hosting gig for the television program “Talk of the Town” (B4U).

Due to popular demand from their run in March, Teatro Experimental Blue Amigos (TEBA) will remount Ignacio Sarachaga's Mefistófeles (Parodia) in April. Adapted and directed by Héctor Luis Rivera, the show will continue its run in Teatro Soy (located in Manhattan's Washington Heights area) and features Kathy Tejada, Madelin Hierro, Damiana Reyes, Eddy Jiménez, Emir Cruz and Rivera in the cast.
