Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Francisco Fuertes, shown at right, won Best Actor at the V Festival Internacional de Teatro de Pequeño Format de Miami, for his role in the 2015 HOLA Award-winning production of Abuse/Abuso (for which he also received a 2015 HOLA Award). Written by 2015 HOLA Award recipient Antonio Muñoz de Mesa and directed by Ángel Gil Orrios, the production also starred 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Soledad López and was presented in November at the ArtSpoken Performing Arts Center in Miami, Florida.
Jason Torres, shown at left, will be starring in the short film Livin' and Lovin' in the Hood (written and directed by Roxanne Alese), scheduled to start production in New York City in late 2015 or early 2016.
Adela María Bolet can be seen acting in the first season of the television series "Jessica Jones" (Netflix).
2015 HOLA Awards recipient Liza Colón-Zayas will co-star in Breaking Brooklyn. Written by Paul Becker and Rory Owen Delaney, the feature film is directed by Becker and will star Madeleine Mantock, Catherine Curtin, and Academy Award winner Louis Gossett, Jr. in the cast. The film is currently in pre-production.
2015 HOLA Awards recipient Sebastian Stimman wrote and will be directing one of the plays in Definitions: A Play on Love. Produced by Brookes Theater Company, the evening will consist of six short plays written by David Ives, David Auburn, Lucas Womack, Gina Barnett, Stimman, Winnie Holtzman and Paul Dooley; and directed by Aubrey Lace Taylor, Matthew Ip Taylor, Jack Haley, Stimman, and Andrew Blair. The production is scheduled for a December run at the 13th Street Repertory Theater located in Manhattan's West Village. For more information, click here or here. In addition, he stars in the film Vuelve con nosotros. Directed by Mario Ramos, the film is written by Oscar Estrada (adapted from his short story "Paternidad"). Johanna Tolentino is pleased to announce that her webseries "Whatever It Takes" (in which she stars, wrote, directed and produced) is becoming a feature film. The Whatever It Takes film is slated to star Tolentino, Jay Álvarez, Marcos Sotomayor, Elaine Del Valle, A.B. Lugo, Solanyi Rodríguez, Blanca Camacho, and others.
