HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. A.B. Lugo, shown at right, will have his debut solo collection of poetry, Spanish Coffee: Black, No Sugar, released on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 (with pre-orders available starting Sunday, April 9, 2017) through La Casita Grande (an imprint of Black Rose Writing). For more information, click here.

Héctor Palacios is performing in the play The Grinder. One of the three plays in the trilogy Women You Thought You Know, written and directed by Stephanie Lynn Wilson, the plays (produced by WETBG Productions) are running in repertory in March at IATI Theater, located in Manhattan's East Village. Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), shown at left, will be one of the special performers at the Gilberto Velázquez "Don Sonero" Birthday Bash event, taking place on Friday, April 7, 2017 at world famous SOB's, located in Manhattan's West Village neighborhood. Víctor Cruz will be hosting an evening of standup comedy on Thursday, March 23, 2017  at Cocina Taller in the Inwood section of Manhattan. In addition, he and Ángelo Lozada will headline an evening of comedy and a screening of the former's award-winning feature film The Stockroom (which stars Cruz, April Hernández-Castillo, and Liza Colón-Zayas), which was written, produced and directed by Cruz and produced by Elaine Del Valle. The event will take place on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Phyllis P. Marshall Student Center (MSC) Ballroom in the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. For more information, click here.


Mateo Gómez and Judy Torres are co-starring in the film Fists of Love. Written by Brian Pollock and directed by Daryl Denner, the feature film is hitting the film festival circuit, with its next stop being in April at the Manhattan Film Festival in New York City. For more information, click here.
