HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. José Roldán, Jr., shown at right, will be presenting his award-winning, self-penned solo show Father Forgive Me For I Have Sinned (developed with and directed by Dante Albertie) at Southern New Hampshire University (in Manchester, New Hampshire) in February and in March at 54 Below (located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan). Luis Salgado is directing and choreographing the U.S. premiere in Spanish of the Lin-Manuel Miranda-Quiara Alegría Hudes musical In The Heights. The production will take place in April and May at GALA Theater in Washington, District of Columbia. For more information, click here or here.

Erick Betancourt, shown at left, is co-starring in the Donmar Warehouse-St. Ann's Warehouse production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd and starring Harriet Walter, the production will take place in January and February at St. Ann's Warehouse in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn. Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), is continuing her co-starring role in the new musical I Like It Like That, starring Domingo Quiñones, until the end of January. With a book by David Maldonado and Waddy Jáquez, the musical will be directed by Jáquez with musical direction and arrangements by Desmar Guevara. The musical will feature the music of Latin music artists such as Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto, Ismael Rivera, Cheo Feliciano, Willie Colón, Héctor Lavoe, Rubén Blades, Larry Harlow, Ismael Miranda, Johnny Pacheco, Pete El Conde, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, La Lupe, Mon Rivera, Fania All-Stars, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Joe Cuba, Pete Rodríguez, Johnny Colón, and Patato y Totico. Previews for the musical will start in September at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater, located in the theater district of midtown Manhattan. For more information, click here.
