HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Héctor Luis Rivera, shown at right, in his blog Héctor Luis Sin Censura, named twelve people who made their mark in New York Latino theater in 2016, and they included Caridad del Valle, Mayté Hernández, Aileene Pérez, and Raúl Rivera. To read the blog which is in Spanish, click here. [Clockwise from above top left: del Valle, Hernández, Pérez, R. Rivera.]

Modesto Flako Jiménez and Brooklyn Gypsies are presenting the One Catches Light Festival 2017. A festival of solo shows, it will take place in January at Jack, located in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. For more information, click here, here or here.

Jenmary Day, Marlene Villafañe and Phoenix Ximénez co-star in the feature film Children of Hip Hop (written and directed by Antonio De La Cruz). The film is hitting the film festival circuit, and its next stop will be at the
Queens World Film Festival, scheduled to take place in March at the Museum of the Moving Image in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens (as well as in other locations in the borough). For more information, click here.

Lucio Fernández has released the January 2017 episode of his talk show "Live On Stage" (MNN/QPTV), which can be seen in the video below. (Note that the show is bilingual– in Spanish and English.)
