NBC's "Saturday Night Live" (commonly known as "SNL") has added some new faces to its ranks for its upcoming 42nd season, including its first ever Latina on the program. While there have been male Latino cast members on the show (Horatio Sanz and Fred Armisen), there had never been a Latina cast member in the history of the show... until now.

Joining the cast this season is Melissa Villaseñor, a Los Angeles-based comedian who was a Top 16 finalist of NBC's "America's Got Talent". She is also part of the stable of performers on Más Mejor, the digital comedy hub for Latino comedy produced by "SNL" creator Lorne Michaels' production company Broadway video under the grooming of
Sanz and Armisen. Villaseñor will join Alex Moffat and current "SNL" writer Mikey Day as featured players on the program, which will have its 42nd season premiere on Saturday, October 1, 2016.
