HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface. To see what other HOLA members are doing currently, click here.

Edna Lee Figueroa and Edmi De Jésus, shown, in character, from left to right (or is that top to bottom?), were featured in the Reflectores Citadinos column of the New York weekly newspaper La Voz Hispana, where it talked of the pair's upcoming presentation of the play Santa Bárbara es una femme fatale. The two-hander was written by Camila Monclova and Mariana Monclova and will be directed by Jorge Dieppa and presented in September at the ArtSpoken Performing Arts Center in Miami, Florida. Indra Palomo is co-starring in the new musical La canción. Written by Cándido Tirado with original songs by Vico C., the production is directed by Edward Torres (with stage management by Larissa Santiago) and will premiere in September at Repertorio Español, located in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. Jeannie Sol, Manuel A. Morán and
Milteri Tucker co-star in the Teatro SEA production of La Gloria: A Latin Cabaret. Written by Norge Espinosa and produced and directed by Morán, the award-winning musical honors the music of Cuba's La Sonora Matancera, and its three singers: Celia Cruz, Myrta Silva, and Daniel Santos. The production will have additional performances (due to popular demand) from October through December at Teatro SEA's eponymous theater, located in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA) in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. For more information on the production (and to buy tickets), click here.

Liza Colón-Zayas is co-starring in the feature film Two for One. Written by Michael Testone directed by Jon Abrahams, the film stars Erika Christensen, Annie Potts, Jason Biggs, Summer Phoenix, Scott Caan, and Abrahams. For more information, click here.
