HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. The FUERZAFest - Latino LGBTQ Festival recently concluded and the festival presented awards for "best of the fest". Four of the five awards presented was awarded to the Corezón production of Olvidadas– they included Best Playwright (Pablo García Gámez, shown above left), Best Actress (Rosie Berrido), Best Director (Diego M. Chiri), and Best Production (where it tied with another play). The fifth award, that of Best Actor was presented to Roberto D'Jesús (shown above right), for his role in Rafael Mejía's Mi pecado favorito (presented by Arketipo).

Jeannie Sol is co-starring in the play In Defense of Glitter and Rainbows. Written by Viviann True Rodríguez and directed by Andrés Chulisi Rodríguez, it will run in June at the Producers' Club Theater, located in the theater district of the midtown Manhattan. Mafer Rodríguez, shown at left, will be making her directorial debut when she helms the play Hombres. The play, written by Indira Páez, will be presented by IShowNY Productions in July as part of the VI Festival de Teatro Hispano del Comisionado at the Sala Rafael Villalona at the Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. The cast will include Rodríguez, Alfonso Rey, Sandor Juan, Antonio Rubio, William Pérez and Mario Mattei in the cast. 

Repertorio Español is presenting the new Jordi Galcerán comedy Burundanga. Directed by José Zayas, the play will premiere at the end of May and will take place at Repertorio's eponymous theater located in the Rose Hill section of Manhattan. The play stars Zulema Clares, Luis Carlos de La Lombana, Germán Jaramillo, Soraya Padrao, and Txemi Parra. For more information, click here.

Thalía Spanish Theatre is presenting the Juan Carlos Rubio comedy Apartment For Sale (tenant included). Produced, designed and directed by Ángel Gil Orrios, the production will star Soledad López, Jesús E. Martínez, and Basílica Bliachas and will run in June at Thalía's namesake theater located in the Sunnyside area of Queens. For more information, click here.
