Danny Burstein, Sergio Trujillo, Marco Ramírez Win 2016 Outer Critics Circle Awards

The winners of the 2016 Outer Critics Circle Awards were announced on Monday, May 9, 2016 and the annual Gala Awards Dinner will be held at 4pm on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Sardi's Restaurant in the theater district of midtown Manhattan.


Danny Burstein, shown above at left, received the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical for his role of Tevye in the Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. Sergio Trujilloshown above at rightpicked up an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Choreographer for his work on the Estefan-Estefan-Dinelaris musical On Your Feet!: The Story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. Marco Ramírez, shown at right, won the John Gassner Award for Playwriting (given to a American play and usually a new playwright) for his play The Royale.

The Outer Critics Circle is the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway representing more than 90 newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, websites and theatre publications in America and abroad. They were begun during the 1949–1950 theatre season. The Outer Critics Circle nominations are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominations of the New York theatre season. For more information, click here.
