HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip". In this sense, we use it to highlight HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, shown at right, and the performance group known as Universes will be performing the world premiere of UniSon. With text consisting of the poetry of the award-winning playwright August Wilson, the musical (presented in association with Constanza Romero) will be directed by Robert O'Hara and also star Steven Sapp, Gamel Abdel Chasten and William "Ninja" Ruiz. The production will run from April through October at the Angus Bowmer Theatre at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. For more information, click here.


Danny Borbón, shown at left, can be seen co-starring in the film shorts The Final Table (written and directed by Gil O'Brien) and The Brothers Texas (written and directed by Ashton Pina). Both shorts are in post-production and are about to hit the film festival circuit.

Mario GoldenVivienne Jurado, and A.B. Lugo are co-starring in the Domnica Rădulescu play Exile is My Home. Produced by Theater for the New City (with support of OneHeart Productions), the award-winning play will have its world premiere and also stars Noemí de la Puente, David Van Leesten, Mirandy Rodríguez, and Nikaury Rodríguez, and will run in April and May at the Theater for the New City in Manhattan's East Village. Esteban Rodríguez-Alverio, shown at right, is directing the play The World of Extreme Happiness. Written by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig, the play is being presented in April by The City College of New York Department of Theatre and Speech, Division of Humanities and the Arts at Aaron Davis Hall, located in the Hamilton Heights/Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. La Caja de los Prejuicios/The Prejudice Box is presenting Así que pasen cinco años. Written by Federico García Lorca and directed by Paul Montoya, the play stars Caridad del Valle, Venuz Delmar, Christian López Lamelas, Samuel GarnicaJuan Villarreal, Sergio Freijo, and Miriam Pinedo, and will be presented in June as part of the VI Festival de Teatro Hispano del Comisionado, which will take place at the Teatro Rafael Villalona at the 
Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en los EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. For more information, click here.
