HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Elaine Del Valle was featured in the New York Daily News's VIVA section on Thursday, November 12, 2015, where her work as a co-producer of the popular interactive webseries "Gran'pa Knows Best" was mentioned. Del Valle negotiated an acquisition deal with HBO Latino for the series (in a first of its kind deal for interstitial programming). Created, co-produced, directed, shot and edited by William D. Caballero (shown at right, with Del Valle, who is holding Gran'pa, who is also shown in an inset photo) and based on his award-winning short film How You Doin', Boy? Voicemails From Gran'pa, its star is Caballero's own grandfather Víctor Muriel (who voices the title character, itself a 3D model of Muriel) was highlighted. 2015 HOLA Award recipient Mathia Vargas is acting in the remounting of the Teátrica production of Yoleros. Written by Álex Vásquez Escaño and directed by Martín Balmaceda, the cast also features 2015 HOLA Award recipients Sully Bonnelly Modesto Jiménez, and will run in December at The Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood. 2015 HOLA Awards recipient Francisco Fuertes is co-starring in and co-produced the short film Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora. (You. Me. Bathroom. Sex. Now.) Written and directed by Francisco Lupini Basagoiti, the film has been hitting the international film festival circuit hard, winning several awards along the way. Emilio Delgado, shown at right, will be making a live appearance, along with Sonia Manzano, Bob McGrath, Roscoe Orman, Alan Muraoka, and Alison Bartlett in an event titled "Humans of Sesame Street" (they are all cast members of the long-running PBS children's series. The event will be moderated by Craig Shemin (President of the Jim Henson Legacy) and take place on Saturday afternoon, December 13, 2015 at the Museum of the Moving Image in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens. 2015 HOLA Award recipient Sandor Juan will be acting in the Indira Páez play Mujeres de par en par. Produced Uptown! Entertainment Alliance, the play is directed by Alfonso Rey and will be presented in December at the Sprout Music Collective in West Chester, Pennsylvania. For more information, click here or here.
