Meet the Honorees of the 2015 HOLA Awards: FRANCISCO GATTORNO

Francisco Gattorno (HOLA Excellence in the Telenovela Genre Award) is one of the most renowned Spanish-langugage TV, film and theater actors in Latin America and the United States. He was born in Cuba and studied at Havana's Instituto Superior de Arte. 

His TV credits include telenovelas such as “La dueña,” “Tu y yo,” “Cañaveral de pasiones,” “Preciosa,” “Laberintos de pasión,” “Tierras de pasión” and most recently “La viuda de Blanco”. His film credits include Sueño tropical, Engaño mortal, Antes de que anochezca (Before Night Falls) and Fresa y chocolate (Strawberry and Chocolate). 


He had his debut at Repertorio Español in September 2004 when he played the character of Juan Julián in the world premiere in Spanish of Nilo Cruz's 2003 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Anna in the Tropics, directed by René Buch. He has received Heraldo, ERES and Palmas de Oro Awards in Mexico, ACE Awards (Hispanic Theater Critics Association) in New York and Premios Lo Nuestro given by Univision Networks. He has been selected in multiple occasions by People en Español Magazine as one of the most relevant figures of Spanish-language culture. 


The 2015 HOLA Awards will be on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Battery Gardens, in Battery Park at the southernmost tip of Manhattan, in New York City.
