Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. 2015 HOLA Award recipient Idalmis García, shown at left, in character, is acting in the film Tenacious Butterfly (written and directed by Soleidy Méndez).
Lucio Fernández associate produced the short film Ploy (written by Jesse E. Salgado and Julius B. Kelly and directed by Kelly). The film stars Stan J. Adams, Omar Torres, Judy San Román, Jim Thalman and Donny Chávez. The film is currently hitting the film festival circuit, where its next stop is the Brightside Tavern Short Film Festival, scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Caridad de la Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja) and Milteri Tucker will be performing as part of Arts and Fitness Garden Tours, presented by the New York City Parks Foundation. A tour of three stops in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx on Saturday morning and afternoon, August 22, 2015, the tour will include a storytelling/poetry workshop and performance by de la Luz at its first stop, at the Melrose New Generation Garden. The second stop includes a healthy cooking demonstration at its second stop at the nearby Vogue Community Garden. The third and final stop ends with Tucker, who with her Bombazo Dance Company, will do a bomba [Afro-Puerto Rican folkloric] dance performance and workshop at the nearby Little Green Garden and Rock Garden. The Puerto Rico premiere of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow (titled Jala-la-pala in Spanish) was the subject of a photo essay in Broadway World. The play is directed by Luis Salgado, shown above left, and boasts an all-HOLA member cast in Emmanuelle Bordas, Javier E. Gómez and Éric-Dominique Pérez (shown in character, above right, from left to right). It will run in August at El Corralón de San José in Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico.
