HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. Pablo Andrade, shown at right, has been featured in Venezuelan newspaper El Diario de Caracas and the NYC blog El Blog de Pablo (written by Pablo García Gámez) for his first venture as a producer in the U.S. under his company Corezon Productions. He is producing the Fermín Reina play El Rey de Francia. Directed by Andrade and Dimas González, the play stars Andrade, González and Adriana Galíndez and will run in June as part of the fifth annual Festival de Teatro Hispano Del Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU (CoDoCul) at its theater space located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood. Valeria Cossu is directing the musical Discovering Magenta. With a book and lyrics by James Corey Kaufman, music by Michael Bitterman, and musical direction by Solomon Hoffman, it will be presented in September as part of the Thespis Theater Festival at the Hudson Guild Theater (located in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood). Velvet Mafia Productions and its producer, Francisco Fuertes, shown at left, are pleased to announce that two of his company short films were accepted into the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival, scheduled to take place in June in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both written and directed by Francisco Lupini Basagoiti, they are Tú. Yo. Baño. Sexo. Ahora. (starring Fuertes and Mauricio Pita), and Yo, la peor de todas (starring Carmen Cabrera, Ana Verónica Muñoz, and Basílica Bliachas). For more information, click here and here. 

Milteri Tucker was a special guest performer of the performance piece Salsa Dream. Created by Andy Rodríguez and Gildred Ribot and produced and directed by Rojas, the piece took place in June at The Lovinger Theater at the Herbert H. Lehman College (CUNY), located in the Bedford Park area of the Bronx. For more information about the piece, click here.

Jeannie Sol will be singing at an outdoor free concert on Sunday afternoon, June 14, 2015, as part of the Boricua Festival in Brooklyn. She will share a bill with Willie Villegas, Entre Amigos, Herencia de Plena and Grammy Award winner (and Fania All-Star) Eddie Montalvo and His Orchestra. The concert will take place in Sunset Park at Sixth Avenue and 44th Street in Brooklyn's Sunset Park area.
