Report: EL CANTO DE CARLOTA (CHARLOTTE'S SONG) Benefit Performance for HOLA

On Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2015, the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA) and OneHeart Productions presented a performance of El canto de Carlota (Charlotte's Song) at the Flamboyán Theater in the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center (home to HOLA).

The performance, the Spanish-language world premiere of the production, was a benefit for HOLA. Written by Nancy Ferragallo, it was directed by Andreas Robertz and Mario Golden (the latter of which also translated the text). With choreography by Ferragallo and Celeste Hastings, the show starred Yvette Quintero, Golden and Hastings.

El canto de Carlota (Charlotte’s Song), by Nancy Ferragallo, is a performance-based experimental work that explores a daughter’s reality of growing up with her emotionally disabled mother and how that impacted her life and healing process. It is a poetic collective of monologues, dialogue-driven scenes and movement theater in the style of the Tanz Theater of Pina Bausch.

HOLA would like to thank OneHeart Productions; the company of El canto de Carlota (Charlotte's Song); Jan Hanvik, Mariana Ortiz, Tal Sharon and Marc Tijohn Cecil Williams of the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center; Tere Martínez and Barbara Vlahides; Maria Hupfeld; Carlos Navedo of Impacto Latin News; Javier E. Gómez, Shirley Arrieta and Daren Jaime of BronxNet Television; Pablo García Gámez of El Blog de Pablo; J. Edgar Mozoub of ARTENY; Lissette Montolío and Frank Castro of WKDM 1380 FM New York; Bel Hernández of Latin Heat; Colleen; and all those in attendance for the event (as well as those who supported in lieu of attendance).
