HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to “gossip”. In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting, performance or similarly artistic gigs and/or recognition in the media. 2014 HOLA Awards recipient Pablo Andrade, shown at right, was the subject of  profiles in the Venezuelan newspapers El Universal and La Nueva Prensa de Guayana, where they highlighted his career in New York, which has culminated in him receiving two 2014 HOLA Awards. Edison Carrera will star in El daño que hacen los celos. Adapted by George Carlo from an Elías Balladares play, the play is directed by Cecill Villar and also stars Oscar Morillo, Génesis Taveras, Ionesco Cabrera, Agar García, Raúl Rivera and Yudelca Gómez. The production will be presented in November by Teatro Experimental Comunitario at the Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en EEUU, located in Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.

Allison Strong sang in October at the Artists For World Peace's fourth annual Broadway fundraiser at Joe's Pub, located in Manhattan's NoHo district. For more information, click here.

Vanessa Verduga, shown at left, will appear on a panel, titled "Women of Color in Comics: Race, Gender & the Comic Book Medium", for the NYC Women in Comics Collective at the 2014 New York Comic Convention, scheduled to take place in October at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan's West Side. Alexandra Manzano was interviewed by Héctor Luis Rivera for the web talk/entertainment show "Héctor Luis Sin Censura", where she talks of her recent work in the plays Las galas del difunto (written by Ramón María del Valle-Inclán; adapted and directed by Rivera), Agravios de fortuna (written by William Shakespeare; adapted and directed by A.B. Lugo), and Suicide is Prohibited in Springtime (written by Alejandro Casona; directed by Rivera; the play will be performing next at the 8th annual International Theater Festival of the Gran Teatro del Cibao, in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic). She also spoke on her career and her work in the upcoming production of Delirio furioso (written by 2014 HOLA Awards recipient Caridad del Valle; directed by Yaítza Rivera; also starring 2014 HOLA Awards recipient Elena Mohedano), scheduled to open in October at the Producers' Club Theater in the theater district of midtown Manhattan.
