HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

Caridad De La Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja), shown at left, was the subject of a cover feature article (cover shown at right; click on it to make it larger) in the Bronx Free Press regarding her recent gig with the Bobby Sanábria Big Band for a salute to poet (and fellow Bronx native) Edgar Allan Poe. The G.Terracino-helmed film
Elliott Loves continues its astounding run at film festivals across the world. The film (written by Terracino and produced by Terracino and Elizabeth Gardner; co-produced by Juan Cáceres) most recently played the 
Cinema Diverse: Palm Springs LGBT Film Festival in Palm Springs, California in September. A.B. Lugo was one of the featured readers at the book release and signing for the poetry anthology Me No Habla With Acento (edited by Emanuel Xavier and published by Rebel Satori Press/El Museo del Barrio). The reading/signing took place at La Casa Azul Bookstore in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. Other poets who performed include Roberto "Simply Rob" Vassilarakis, Noel "El David" Rodríguez, María Rodríguez, Roberto F. Santiago, Urayoán Noel, Christopher Chilo Cajigas, John Chance Acevedo and Myrna Nieves. For more information on the book, click here or here.
 
Bridge Playhouse is bringing their recent NYC production of Sabina Berman's play Muerte súbita to Mexico. Directed by Daniel Jáquez, the play (a co-production with El Pabellón Cultural de la República) will star Alfredo Huereca, Ana Grosse and Carlos Alberto Valencia and have a December run at El Pabellón Cultural de la República, located in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, México. J.F. Seary will be performing in a workshop of Soledad Speaks. Written by Peggy Robles-Alvarado, Meriam Rodríguez, María Rodríguez and Seary, it will be performed by Meriam Rodríguez, María Rodríguez and Seary. The spoken word piece was created and directed by Linda Nieves-Powell and curated by Peggy Robles-Alvarado and Seary. It is set for a September run at the world famous Nuyorican Poets’ Café, located in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood. For more information, click here.
 
Marisel Polanco, shown at right, booked the lead in the Yahoo! Mujer en Español webseries "Casi perfecta" after reading about the casting notice in the e-mail announcements HOLA sends to its members and self-submitting. Writes Polanco, "Thank you HOLA for everything that you do for all of us Latino Performers and the Latino community. So proud to be a member. You guys are amazing! José Yenque, shown at left, received the Humanitarian Award from The Mexican Film Festival of the Americas at The Logan Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The short film Botes al amanecer (Cans at Dawn) won best short film. The film was written by Carlos Ibarra, directed by Nikki Roberts and executive produced by Yenque. It was previously a special selection at the 65th Festival de Cannes (Short Corner) and selected for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and New Filmmakers Los Angeles.
