HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

J.W. Cortés, shown at left, is featured in the Marine Wife, Mommy and Life blog along with other operatives (Brent Gleeson, Tom Stroup, Talon Smith and Grady Powell) of the NBC reality competition series "Stars Earn Stripes." The series, which raises money for veterans and first responder charities, is executive produced by Dick Wolf (of the "Law & Order" franchise), Mark Burnett (of "Survivor") and Sam Hurwitz (of "American Gladiators"). Cortés received the gig through an HOLA referral. To read the blog, click here.

Marco Antonio Rodríguez, shown at right, was interviewed in El Diario/La Prensa for his acclaimed hit play La luz de un cigarrillo, which since its world premiere at Teatro LATEA last year, has been published (by NOPE Press) and lauded with five (5) HOLA Awards. The production, also directed by Rodríguez, returns for a encore engagement in September with the entire award-winning (and all-HOLA member) cast of Susanna Guzmán, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Arisleyda Lombert and Teresa Yenque (below, counterclockwise from top right) at Lehman Stages located in the Bedford Park area of the Bronx. R.Evolución Latina and Salgado Productions are presenting Amigo Duende. The musical, whose book was adapted from the play by Flavia Lugo de Marichal by Luis Salgado, Joshua Henry and Heather Hogan and with music and lyrics by Henry, is directed and choreographed by Salgado. The musical stars Cindy Fernández, Jasmine Knight, Anthony Martínez and David Meléndez and will have an October run at El Teatro in El Museo Del Barrio in Manhattan's El Barrio neighborhood. Society of the Educational Arts (SEA) is taking its hit off-Broadway musical DC-7: The Roberto Clemente Story to Clemente's birthplace of Puerto Rico. With a libretto, music and lyrics by Luis Caballero (with additional music by Harold Gutiérrez and choreography by Luis Salgado), the musical is the winner of 14 awards (including two 2012 HOLA Awards) and stars Modesto Lacén (playing the Baseball Hall of Famer and humanitarian title character), Lorraine Vélez, Josean Ortiz and Manuel Morán and will have a December run at the Teatro Francisco Arriví in Santurce.
