HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members or Friends of HOLA who are getting acting and performance gigs. The names of HOLA members and Friends of HOLA are listed below in boldface.

The film Mosquita y Mari (written and directed by Aurora Guerrero) will have its New York City premiere on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Cinema Village in Manhattan's East Village. The movie stars Fenessa Pineda, Venecia Troncoso and Laura Patalano, the last of which is shown at left. For more information, click here.

Gilbert Cruz is acting in Mando Alvarado's A King of Infinite Space. Directed by Jerry Ruiz, the loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, the production will have a July run in HERE Arts Center in Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood. The show also features Rey Lucas, Bernardo Cubría, María Helan, Christen Gee, John-Martin Green, Daniel Isaac and Irungu Mutu in the cast. For more information, click here. Patrick Michael Valley nabbed the role of Sancho Panza in the Dale Wasserman-Joe Darion-Mitch Leigh musical Man of La Mancha (based on Cervantes' classic work Don Quixote). The show will be directed by Richard Sabellico and have a July and August run in the Mt. Washington Valley Theater in Conway, New Hampshire. For more information, click here.

Carlos Lobo is set to star in the Joseph D. Almanza play Shove as part of the New York International Fringe Festival (fringeNYC). Directed by Scott Hudson, the production will have an August run in the Connelly Theater in Manhattan's East Village. The play also stars Charles Settles, Jr.; Almanza; Robert Meksin and Alek Mici. Caridad De La Luz (also known by her nom de poésie et de musique La Bruja) will be one of the feature poets in the Dances with Wordz [sic] Orisha Poetry event, produced by LatinosNYC. Hosted by John "Chance" Acevedo, the event will take place on August 10, 2012 at the famed Nuyorican Poets' Café in Manhattan's Loísaida neighborhood and also feature Baba Borges, Iyaba Ibo Mandingo and music by Oba Iré.
