Stars of Broadway's A Streetcar Named Desire Responds to Critics of Multicultural Revival

Blair Underwood and Nicole Ari Parker, who star opposite Wood Harris and Daphne Rubin-Vega in the Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, are speaking out against critics of the multiracial production that offers a fresh perspective on the historical context of Tennessee Williams' drama.

The play which opened to mixed reviews April 22, 2012 at the Broadhurst Theater under the direction of Emily Mann.

The revival is produced by Stephen C. Byrd and Alia M. Jones of Front Row Productions, who were also behind the Tony Award-winning all-African-American revival of Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway in 2008. That production later transferred to London, garnering the Olivier Award for Best Revival.
