HOLA Member Bochinche

Bochinche refers to "gossip." In this sense, we use it to mention HOLA members who are getting acting gigs.

María Teresa Silva e-mailed us to let us know what she has been working on recently. She booked a role on an educational video ("Exploraciones") and roles in the films Changing Diego, Thug Soldier, The Ultimate Answer and The Instant Messenger.

Adriana Sananes won the 2010 Audie Award for Best Spanish Narration for La traversía de Enrique/Enrique's Journey by Pulitzer Prize winning writer Sonia Nazario. She's also the featured narrator for the "National Endowment for the Arts- Big Read" radio show, where she read excerpts from In The Time of the Butterflies by Julia Álvarez. In addition, she has recorded several voiceovers for an Ellis Island Museum/History Channel project. Finally, she took part in the Fornés Festival, acting in a reading of María Irene Fornés' play Hunger at the Cherry Lane Theatre in Manhattan's West Village. María Olivares, left, can be seen in the cast of David Lamb's Plátanos and Collard Greens. The long-running show is currently playing at the Baruch Performing Arts Center in the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan. In the fall, she will start rehearsals for the play Straight Land, which she booked though an HOLA casting referral.

Mónica Delgado contacted the HOLA office to let us know that she booked a radio voiceover for McDonald's.

Daisy Cabrera and Marisol Carrere, right, booked a video called "Iniciativa Ser," where they worked with the famous fashion designer Carolina Herrera and her daughter after finding out about it through an HOLA e-mail casting notice.

Antonio García, Jr. e-mailed us to tell us that he has been busy working on some student projects at New York University and that he is in rehearsals for the John Rafter Lee play Passchendaele. Produced by Thesia Arts and scheduled for an August run, it is part of the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival (fringeNYC) at the Robert Moss Theater in the Noho section of Manhattan.
