This makes Pineda the longest-serving news anchor in television in the New York area.

“Rafael’s integrity, dedication and connection to our audience have made him one of a kind,” said Ramón J. “Throughout my career as news anchor at WXTV, I have had the privilege and satisfaction to contribute significantly to the daily production of the television industry - in one of the most challenging and competitive markets in the country,” said Rafael Pineda.  “It’s been a privilege to work for a community that embraced me and taught me how to grow with it over the years.”

Throughout his career, Pineda has been acknowledged by many institutions receiving honorable mentions for his work. “En mi carrera como presentador de noticias para WXTV, he tenido el privilegio y la satisfacción de contribuir significativamente a la producción diaria en la industria de la televisión – en uno de los mercados más competitivos y difíciles del país”, expresó Rafael Pineda. “Ha sido un honor trabajar para una comunidad que me recibió con los brazos abiertos y me enseñó a crecer junto a ella durante todos estos años”.

Report: Screening of Kiki Meléndez's THE JOURNEY OF A FEMALE COMIC (Presented by Latin Hollywood Films, NALIP and HOLA)

On the Sunday afternoon of October 20, 2013, Latin Hollywood Films, NALIP and HOLA presented an advance screening of the mockumentary (or "docu-comedy" as it is billed) The Journey of a Female Comic/Trayectoria de una comediante. Starring, co-written and co-directed by Kiki Meléndez, the event took place at the Metropolitan Room in Manhattan's Flatiron District.

Before a packed house, opening act Vanessa Hollingshead warmed up the crowd and prepared for the fun time ahead. After brief addresses from Louis Perego Moreno (Tío Louie) and Kiki Meléndez, the screening went underway.
The comedy stars Meléndez as it highlights her trials and tribulations with trying to make it in Hollywood. The film (co-written by Lynn McCullough and co-directed by Erick Crespo) also has appearances from Nadine Velázquez (a 2013 HOLA Awards honoree), Esaí Morales, Lupe Ontiveros, María Conchita Alonso, Jacob Vargas, Guy Ecker, Johnny Ray Rodríguez, Susan Rybin, among others.

After the screening (and due to the large number of people in attendance), the afterparty occurred a few doors down at the Belgian bar-restaurant BXL Zoute, where attendees celebrated the success of the movie for a mind-boggling eight hours.

Among the attendees were luminaries such as Cid Wilson, Lino García, Jennice Fuentes, Sophia Angélica, Fleriser Bello, Christopher Lupo, Marco Antonio Rodríguez, and people who worked on the film, such as Crespo, McCullough, Rodríguez and Rybin.

Be on the lookout for this hilarious "docu-comedy" which is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide in 2014.
