As part of the HOLA@35 fundraising drive, HOLA had a benefit performance of Colombian humorist Saulo García's show La vida en los Esclavos Unidos. The comedic show dealt with the timely topic of immigration. Told in a humorous way, he had the audience laughing in the aisles. The show took place at Repertorio Español.
Special thanks to Anthony Ruiz, María F. Nieto of Latinos In Entertainment, Geko Jones, Juan Diego Cano Gil, Gregory Segarra, Lisann Valentín, Juan Carlos Restrepo Rodríguez and Basil Rojas for their help with the event. Extra special thanks to the staff of Repertorio Español (especially Robert Caba, Gredivel Vásquez, María Brites and Alfonso Rey) and of course, Mr. Saulo García for his talent.
Some photos from the event (taken by ARuiz Photography) are below.

HOLA@35: WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL!!
As part of HOLA's 35th anniversary, we had a challenge posed to us. An organization (that chooses to remain anonymous) pledged to give HOLA $10,000 if we raised an additional $10,000 in 90 days. Our 90th day was June 22, 2010.
It is my pleasure to say that we not reached our goal, we surpassed it, raising over $12,000. That will be a grand total of over $22,000 raised for the HOLA@35 fund. (Mind you, you can still donate to the HOLA@35 fund. To do so, click here.)
We thank everyone who donated to the fundraising drive. Your names will be posted at the HOLA website at a future date. As part of the HOLA@35 fundraising drive, we had a benefit performance of Saulo García's new solo show La vida en los Esclavos Unidos at Repertorio Español. More info on that event (including photos) will be in an upcoming blog entry.

In addition, two theater producers have decided to have benefit performances for the HOLA@35 fund.
--Repertorio Español is presenting famed Colombian humorist Saulo García in his new show, La vida en los Esclavos Unidos. Presented in Spanish, the benefit performance will take place at the Spanish Repertory Theater (138 East 27th Street, just off Lexington Avenue in Manhattan, NYC) on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 7pm. Tickets are $35 and a portion of the proceeds go to the HOLA@35 fund. For more information, click here. To buy tickets, call the HOLA office at (212) 253-1015 and we will more than happy to take your order.
If you cannot make either of these offerings, you can still always donate directly to the HOLA@35 fund by clicking here (please mark your gifts "HOLA@35"). REMEMBER, every dollar counts and time is of the essence.
